Top 5 Alternate Christmas Gifts

Anyone who knows me knows Christmas is the one for me! The second it hits Autumn I’m all over that Christmas hype. My Christmas shopping is usually finished by the end of October, November latest so I thought it was only apt that I share with you some of my favourite gift ideas.

Personally, I prefer, shall we say, ‘alternative’ gifts. Not so much random things, but experiences and things that are meaningful, as oppose to just stuff. I’d rather make memories than have bath stuff that’s going to sit in the bathroom cupboard until next Christmas! So, here are a few of my top gift picks.

  1. Cosy Night In Package
If you’re anything like me, you love nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa and having a night in. A cosy night in package is great because it doesn’t cost much but it can look and feel so cute. Just include some of the person’s favourite things to do/eat/drink, for example, mini bottles of wine, popcorn, small snacks, their favourite DVD or a film they’ve been talking about wanting to see, some candles and a facemask. Wrap it all up in a box or even a nice scarf or basket, and voila! The perfect cosy night in.

  2. Experience
This could literally be anything! Whether they’ve been wanting to bungee jump, fly in a helicopter, be a zoo keeper or just need a relaxing day at the spa, give them something that will create memories for them. Nothing is more valuable than that.

  3. Recipe Boxes
Similar to the cosy night in package, make up a box with all the ingredients to their favourite meal or a recipe they love to bake. Its personal and its tasty, and everyone loves food!

  4. Scrapbook
A classic! Everyone loves a scrapbook, especially if it’s a key year for them or something huge has happened! I made a scrapbook for myself (is that sad?) for all the places I’ve travelled to. I saved all the attractions tickets, boarding passes, photos, wristbands, anything from my travels. It makes a really nice keepsake and they have somewhere to put all their stuff, rather than stuffing it in a drawer somewhere or throwing it away.

  5. Bucket List Board
I have to admit, I can’t take credit for this one. Brad did this for my last birthday and it was one of the best ideas! It doesn’t have to be a board, it could be a book or something else, but basically make little tags with bucket list ideas on and pin them up, then pin up a photo of the moment you tick it off your list! Using a board makes a great, personal display in their home and they can see their memories every day!

And bonus, a lot of this stuff is cheaper than buying a standard Soap and Glory gift set from Boots for £50… a very Merry Christmas indeed!
