Real Life VS Insta Life

Not strictly a homely post, I know, but bare with me...

I was scrolling through my Instagram feed yesterday and realised how much I bloody love everyone I follow and thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if these people were around in my actual 'real life'. This made me realise how important it is to surround yourself with your best people, to surround yourself with like-minded people and people who genuinely make you become your best YOU.

90% of the people I follow are home-related (...I told you to bare with me, didn't I?) and whilst interior design and homeware bring me so much happiness in my real life, seeing other people's work and their happiness through this, is something I value too.

How many people in your 'real life' can you whole-heartedly say inspire you every single day?

How many people in your 'real life' can you say you truly, honestly, love seeing and speaking to everyday?

How many people in your 'real life' are on the same wavelength as you, and get joy and love from similar things?

How many people in your 'real life' would you like to hear from, morning, noon, or night?

And now look at your 'Insta life'...

How many people inspire you on a daily basis?

How many people do you love to see posts from every day?

How many people do you follow that are on the same wavelength as you and enjoy similar things?

How many people do you looking forward to seeing their content, at any time of the day?

What I'm trying to say is, yes, we are completely and utterly consumed by social media these days, we can't deny that. Yes, we sometimes ignore our 'real life' and get caught up in our 'Insta life'. Yes, we get jealous and envious of people on these social media platforms from time to time.

But remember this - you choose who you follow, who you interact with, who you like... so that must be a reflection of the type of person you are. How amazing is it that we can connect with like-minded people around the world and enjoy the same things in life and inspire one another!? Its phenomenal. And whilst we need to remember to embrace and enjoy our 'real life' with 'real people', we must not forget to cherish how much social media has taught us and brought us to meet so many individuals, that we'd have never met otherwise.
